Eggs Recall

Unfortunately, there has been a recall of eggs because of Salmonella contamination.

Free-range eggs with the identity number: 1-UK-15270, were recalled from Asda, Aldi and Sainsburys.

Number of eggs recalled or any further information is not currently to hand, but, happily, we can confirm they are NOT   “Laid in Britain” eggs.

Amongst the various types of eggs selling in the different supermarkets was one barn egg type, which was not given a separate coding. Interesting.

Given that the “use by dates” were between the 30th October and 5th November and the FSA notification was put out on the 27th October, the recall seems very late in the shelf life of the eggs.

The contamination was the result of an environmental isolate, not an egg trace-back.
