Genuine "Laid In Britain" I.D. Numbers
N.B. If anyone buys,or becomes aware, of any other numbers on eggs being sold as "Laid In Britain", they will not be genuine. Please send a report; giving date, location and numbers on the eggs to "Laid In Britain", immediately, and action will be taken through the local Trading Standards Agency and the Egg Inspectorate of Defra, which will probably lead to prosecution.
We will keep a list of any 'illegal' use of the "Laid In Britain" name/logo on a 'Black List' on this website, so please visit the site regularly to make sure that you are buying only genuine LIB eggs.
As you see from the above key, if eggs you buy have a number 1 in front of the letters UK, then they have been produced on a UK free-range farm.
But, unless the number after the UK is the same as any of the above list, the producer is NOT a bone fide member of the "Laid In Britain" Assurance scheme, and therefore, we cannot guarantee the quality, safety or welfare aspects of such eggs.
Any other "Laid In" term is not associated with "Laid In Britain" and thus, is NOT covered by our scheme.
Also, any egg bearing letters other than UK has not been produced in the UK and has been imported.
Any queries regarding any egg number other than those shown on the above list should be referred to the Trading Standards Officers or the Egg Inspectorate of the Animal Health Division of Defra.
If, however, you see any eggs/egg boxes showing the "Laid In Britain" name and/or logo, whose number is different from those listed above, then please contact this office, so that we may investigate.
